Beach Blanket Blueberry- Pg 27

This is one of those 'less is more' pages. I kind of think of this page like those full-page Sunday strips for Calvin and Hobbes, where Bill Watterson tried to really use the canvas to give a nice image.

This time, I kind of played around with Mark's skintones in Photoshop, and at one point, his tones took on a more 'tanned' look, that looked amazingly complimentary to Tai's blueberry coloration (I'm a sucker for the complimentary colorations of blue and orange-art students may know what I'm talking about). It's also kind of a reintroduction to Mark's swim trunks.

A last-minute decision was to make the main image look like a freeze-frame. The original idea was that there'd be some speed-line effect on Tai's body. However, I figured the look would be as if I took a quick photograph of that shot. This shot was also kind of like a reverse-fish-eye lens, based on some hand-drawn examples in Richard Williams' book The Animator's Survival Kit.

The silhouette shot at the bottom, was something I wanted to save for somewhere in the next 5-10 pages. But, it just seemed to work well here. This was another picture that was based on photo-reference of a fellow named Gen, whose poses also came in handed on page 25 some time ago.
